House experience can be gained in several ways: collecting food from the garden plot or crafting items in the craft workshop or at the Curiosities Fair. House experience can be tracked in the 'Menu'. Once the bar fills up, an upward arrow button will appear in the upper left corner of the 'Menu' window.
